Brick and Concrete Restoration Perth
Paint, render, carbon and coatings taken off masonry, tilt panels and slabs at a pressure the surface can take.
What comes off
Painted brick is hard to undo badly and easy to ruin. Wet media takes the coating off the face of the brick without blowing out the mortar, and it works into the joints where a grinder cannot go.
Tilt panels, warehouse floors, fire-damaged masonry and heritage façades all get the same method: test section, agree the finish, then work in panels so you can see progress against the original.

In short
Yes — we remove paint, render, limewash and coatings from brick, limestone, render and concrete. It is done at low pressure with a fine abrasive and water, which lifts the coating without eroding the fired face of the brick. Every masonry job starts with a test patch on an area you choose.
Why masonry needs a gentle process
A clay brick has a hard fired skin and a much softer body underneath. Take that skin off and the brick starts absorbing water, spalling in winter and shedding face material for the rest of its life. That is what an over-aggressive abrasive does to a wall, and it is not reversible.
The whole approach on masonry is therefore to use the least aggressive setting that will still shift the coating: fine media, low pressure, water, and a shallow angle. It is slower than blasting steel and it is priced accordingly, but the wall survives.
Substrates and what to expect
Red and cream face brick. The most common job in Perth and generally the most rewarding — decades of paint off, original brick back. Mortar joints are softer than the brick and will be cut slightly; on a heavily painted wall some repointing afterwards is normal.
Limestone. Soft, and common through the Perth coastal suburbs and Mandurah. It takes the lowest pressure we run and always a test patch.
Render and stucco. Paint comes off render readily, but render that is already drummy or delaminating will come off with it. We sound the wall first and tell you what we find.
Concrete. Tougher, and it will take a more aggressive setting. We also do deliberate exposed-aggregate finishes and key preparation for coatings and toppings.
Heritage and pre-1970s paint
Paint on older Perth buildings may contain lead. Where that is likely we test before starting, and if it is present the job needs full containment and licensed disposal, which changes both the method and the price. We will not blast suspected lead paint without those arrangements in place.
Coatings and passes
| Coating | Typically | Passes |
|---|---|---|
| Paint on brick | Acrylic, oil-based, sealer | 1–2 |
| Render and skim | Cement render, texture coat | 2 |
| Carbon and smoke | Fire damage | 1–2 |
| Sealer and adhesive | Floor sealers, glue residue | 1–2 |
Pass counts are for planning. Tim confirms on a site look, which is free inside the Perth metro area.
How the job runs
| Stage | What happens | Typical hrs |
|---|---|---|
| Site look | Access, water, waste and containment checked | 0.5 |
| Mask and set up | Glass, fittings and adjacent surfaces protected | 1 |
| Blast | Wet media at 6–9 bar, passes to spec | 4–8 |
| Wash and inspect | Rinse, flash-rust inhibitor, handover photos | 1 |
Bare steel wants a coat within 4–6 hours in Perth humidity. We can hold the job with an inhibitor if your painter is booked for the next morning.

Common questions
Brick and concrete restoration — your questions answered
Can you strip paint off brick without wrecking the mortar?
Yes, with the pressure set to the mortar rather than the brick. Old lime mortar is softer than the brick face, so we test a section, agree how far to take it, and work in panels so you can see the result as we go.
Do you work on heritage buildings?
Yes. Heritage façades are tested on a hidden section first and blasted at the lowest pressure that lifts the coating. We stop at clean rather than chasing every last shadow into the masonry.
Can you prepare a concrete floor for coating?
Yes. Sealers, adhesives and old coatings come off warehouse and garage floors, leaving a keyed surface ready for epoxy. Send the coating spec and we will match the profile it calls for.
