Terms of service

The rules that apply when you use this website and when you engage us to blast something. Written to be read, not to hide behind.

The short version

Quotes are valid 30 days and assume the site is as described. We insure our work and carry public liability. Things that can go wrong on a blasting job — hidden rust, unstable substrate, weather — are called out below so nobody is surprised on the day.

1. Using this website

The content on this site is provided in good faith as general information about abrasive blasting. It is not a coating specification and it is not engineering advice. Surfaces vary. Always confirm the approach for your particular job with us, or with the coating manufacturer whose product you intend to apply.

Photographs on this site are of work we have carried out. They show typical results, not a guaranteed outcome for your job. Copy, text, images and layout on this site are ours; please do not republish them without asking.

2. Quotes

  • Quotes are valid for 30 days from issue.
  • A quote is based on the information and photographs you give us. If the job on the day is materially different — more area, thicker coating, worse corrosion, restricted access — we will stop, tell you, and agree a variation before continuing.
  • Prices exclude GST unless stated otherwise.
  • Where we have not inspected the site, the quote is an estimate. We will say so on the quote itself.

3. What is and is not included

Unless your quote says otherwise, our price covers surface preparation only: masking and containment of the immediate work area, blasting to the agreed standard, and removal of spent media from the work area.

It does not include painting or coating application, mechanical repairs, welding, rust hole repair, structural assessment, scaffold or elevated work platform hire, disposal of hazardous waste, or making good pre-existing damage revealed by the blasting.

4. Site access and your responsibilities

You agree to provide safe, clear access to the work area on the agreed day, including space to park the rig and, where required, permission from the property owner or strata. Please move vehicles, furniture and anything else you would not want overspray or dust near.

We bring our own water, power and containment. If your site requires us to use yours, that needs to be agreed in writing beforehand.

5. Hidden defects

Blasting removes coating. It also reveals what the coating was hiding. Rust holes, previous filler, bog, poor welds, rot in timber and cracked render are common finds, particularly on older vehicles, boats and machinery.

We are not responsible for pre-existing defects that blasting uncovers, and uncovering them is not damage caused by us. Where we find something significant, we stop and call you before continuing.

6. Substrates we will decline

We will not blast a surface we believe cannot take it. That includes badly perforated panel, delaminating render, friable heritage masonry, and anything we suspect contains asbestos or lead-based paint without a licensed removalist engaged. If we identify one of these on arrival, we will stop work and discuss options. A call-out fee may apply.

7. Flash rust and the coating window

Wet abrasive blasting leaves bare steel damp. Without a coating applied inside the agreed window, light surface oxidation — flash rust — will form. We use a rust inhibitor as standard where a wet process is used, which extends that window, but it does not remove it. See flash rust, explained.

Where you or your painter are applying the coating, the coating window is your responsibility. Confirm it with us before the day so we can sequence the work.

8. Weather and rescheduling

Blasting outdoors depends on wind and rain. We may reschedule for weather or safety at no cost to you. If you need to reschedule, please give us 24 hours' notice — cancellations inside 24 hours may attract a call-out fee to cover the crew and the booked day.

9. Payment

Domestic and small commercial jobs are payable on completion. Larger or staged work is invoiced on agreed milestones, with terms stated on the quote. Overdue accounts may attract interest and recovery costs. We remain the owner of any materials supplied until paid in full.

10. Insurance and liability

We hold public liability insurance and carry out our own risk assessment before starting. Certificates of currency are available on request.

Our liability is limited, to the extent permitted by law, to re-performing the surface preparation or refunding the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — lost trading days, lost hire income, project delay costs — arising out of the work.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Job photographs

We photograph jobs for our own records and may use them in our gallery and on social media. We do not publish identifying detail — street numbers, registration plates, business signage — without permission. Tell us before we start if you would prefer your job was not published, and it will not be.

12. If something goes wrong

Call Tim on 0458 531 878. Most problems are solved on the phone or by coming back out. If it cannot be resolved that way, either of us may refer the matter to Consumer Protection WA before starting legal proceedings. These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your job is the one current on the date of your quote.
